Machine wash cold, 30°C or below. No fabric softener. Air dry. Never tumble dry.

That rule covers everything we make. Stick to it and your kit lasts. The sections below are detail. None of it overrides the rule.

Every wash

The rule

Cold wash, 30°C or under. No softener. Air dry. No tumble drying, no ironing, no bleach, no dry cleaning.

Heat, softener and the tumble dryer are what wreck technical kit. They break down the stretch, the chamois, and any water-repellent finish. Wash cold and hang it up and none of that happens.

Turn it inside out. Do up every zip and every strip of Velcro so nothing snags. Wash with like colours. Keep Velcro and grippers away from your light stuff.

Anything worn next to the skin, wash it after every ride. Bibs, base layers, jerseys, socks. Outer layers can wait until they are dirty or stop smelling fresh.

Normal detergent, normal dose. No softener, ever. It clogs the fabric and kills the wicking. You do not need a sports wash, but one will not hurt.

By type

After every ride, inside out, cold. Dry flat, do not wring the pad. The chamois is plant-based and not glued in, so it holds up, but heat and softener still shorten its life.

Inside out, after every ride, zips done up. Dry on a hanger or flat. Pull it back into shape while it is damp.

Do up the wrist strap, wash cold, dry away from radiators and direct sun. Do not iron them. Heat ruins the grip.

Wash it when it is dirty. Ground-in dirt is what stops the finish working, not washing. Rinse it well so no detergent stays in, and let it dry fully. No softener on these. It clogs the finish.

Inside out, cold, with like colours. Air dry. They are a recycled polyester and cotton blend, built to take a season of washing without the chemical finish cheaper socks rely on.

Warm water and a bottle brush, by hand. Dry with the lid off. Keep them out of the dishwasher. The heat warps the plastic and the valve.

Spot clean, or a cold hand wash if it needs it. Air dry. Nothing with a stiff base or a buckle goes in the machine.

Drying and storage

Air dry, inside or in the shade. Sun and radiators fade colour and stiffen elastic. Heavy things flat, light things hung.

Dry before it goes away. Never leave damp kit balled up in a bag. That is where the smell and the mildew start. Fold heavy items rather than hang them for months.

If you cannot wash it properly, rinse it cold as soon as you can and dry it before it goes in the bag. A wet jersey left two days is hard to bring back.

Cold and quick. Work a bit of detergent in by hand before it goes in the wash. No bleach, no hot water. That sets the mark and risks the fabric.
